Supernatural DallasCon 2012 - Thursday

And now, almost two months later I am posting about the con. Tried to avoid it, didn't want to forget it and am lovingly going to recount what I can for myself and whomever wants to read this.

Our trip started on Thursday because Ria and I drove down to Texas then. Hah. We got a late start because we had to wait for Archiver's (a scrap booking store) to open since we needed to print a photo that Ria was going to have signed. Neither of our printers are awesome like that, so we have to pay. BOO. However, we got to the DMV on time and I was able to update my driver licenses, and Ria got her Missouri one and also registered to vote in Missouri. Woohoo! So after we got the licenses and the picture, off we went. We headed through Kansas and even though her GPS was being a fucktard she just went her own way and I kept my mouth shut because I didn't know where I was going and I feel like if I try to get my input in during driving someplace I really should have just kept my mouth shut. :\ I'm no good at directions and every time we end up using her phone's GPS it puts us in whothefuckknowsville. But anyway.. we made it.

So sometime in Oklahoma we switched and I drove through Tulsa and down into Texas while Ria slept. Wasn't too bad of a drive, some idiots and I had to get used to a much bigger car, but it was normal I think. Didn't get pulled over so that was good. We switched back so Ria was driving the closer we got to Dallas. I'm not a fan of driving in new places and she would probably murder me if I was driving then anyway. So it was just better for both our sakes. XD Anyway.. we're almost to Dallas then we hit traffic and basically stop. UGH. It was so bad..we had like 20 minutes left and it took us twice that time to get through the city and to the hotel. IT WAS HORRIBLE. And then while we were waiting, I looked out the windows and see.. birds. Lots. Of. Birds. Seriously, it was horrifying how many birds there were! On the electric lines, on the fences, EVERYWHERE BIRDS!

BIIIIIIRRRRDDDSSS!!!

Finally we made it down to the part of town where the Westin was. I could see it.. it was SO CLOSE! Then at long last we're there, and find out we have to pay for parking. This hotel had so many problems with hidden fees, it wasn't funny. We haul our stuff inside, I get us checked in and then we head upstairs. I'm thinking, hey for $110 a night we're gonna get a fridge, microwave and tv and wifi! WOO! But I was so wrong. About two weeks before I found out that wifi isn't free unless you're in the lobby or standing on the second floor balcony hanging over the lobby. -____- There was no fridge in the room, and no microwave. There was a crappy tv, a teeny tiny safe and a recycle bin however! Because by some off chance I might have a plastic bottle in the room with me to throw in that blue container. Ugh. We had bought milk for our breakfast and brought cereal and yogurt with us and there is no fridge, so we fandangled ourselves one out of using two trash cans and filling em with ice. Didn't work that well, but it helped at least. The milk was sour by Sunday morning. UGH.

Besides the asinine room amenities, it was a pretty nice room. Beds weren't as big as I imagined, but eh whatever. We got settled, grabbed something to eat and I think we registered since they had it set up for people to do so. I think we also wandered around the vendors that were already set up. Ria went upstairs for a while and I roamed around downstairs with my birthday cards to get people to sign them and I ended up meeting Ariel, Mindy, Emily, Alestra, Tina and more fans that were sitting in the hotel bar area. Ariel had brought a restored impala with her but it was at the paint shop since they had a boo-boo driving it from Florida. The lock on the tarp that covered Baby scratched the paint off and they had to get it fixed. So we hung out and then a few people started gushing about an impala in the lot, so naturally I had to go look. As I'm leaving the hotel I just about plowed over Gabriel Tigerman. HAH! He's so adorable. I almost hit him and was like OMG.. oh hi! and he just grinned and said hi back. I apologized for almost running him over then told him to have a good night, not wanting to impose on him trying to get checked in. He's such a doll.

Swooned over the other impala that was outside for a bit then eventually I was tired and headed upstairs to bed. Friday morning was good times!
